On Saturday night, Steve got us tickets for the President’s Club at Nats Park. Before that night, I would have said that $350 for baseball tickets is absurd. After our experience there, I’m now not so sure of the absurdity of it all.
The seats are amazing. We were as close to the catcher as the pitcher is. Every hit was a visceral experience. The plays at the plate were mind blowing. Livan Hernandez, in his return to DC, would routinely toss balls to the little kids sitting in the rows in front of us.
The food was all you can eat, and wonderful. A very nice buffet dinner was inside the club, along with a full bar and all the soda/chips/popcorn/crackerjack you could eat. I had pork tenderloin and seafood ravioli, followed by a huge piece of rich chocolate cake. They would bring food to you at your seat, if you wanted. The Nats lost 13-6, but it hardly mattered, since we had just a wonderful experience.
Afterwards, we sat in the President’s Club and watched the Olympics with a small group of people, including Don Sutton, who was at the bar a few steps from where we were sitting. We drank beer/wine, chatted, and watched as Michael Phelps won his 8th gold.
Danielle and I did not want to leave - it was a BLAST.
